Inauguration of Chancellor Richard K. Lyons

The Regents of the University of California and the Faculty of UC Berkeley invite you to join the campus community for the inauguration of Richard K. Lyons as the 12th chancellor of UC Berkeley.

Zellerbach Hall | Virtual

This is a free but separately ticketed event as part of Alumni and Parents Weekend at Homecoming. Seating is by general admission and limited to two per order. Please register by Monday, October 7.

This event is both in-person and online; the link will be published here when it’s available.

Zellerbach Hall is wheelchair accessible. Accessible seating and restrooms are available on both the Orchestra and Mezzanine levels. Assistive listening devices (ALDs) are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests may pick up a device from the Audience Services staff starting one hour prior to performances. A driver’s license or government-issued identification will be required as a deposit for the device. Guests who wish to request additional services or accommodations, including sign language interpreters, please contact the Ticket Office at tickets@calperformances.org at least two weeks prior to the event to ensure the best possible arrangements.

Rich Lyons began his term as the 12th chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, on July 1, 2024, as the first undergraduate alum to serve as chancellor, receiving his B.S. degree from Berkeley in 1982. He returned to Berkeley in 1993, joining the faculty after earning his Ph.D. in economics from MIT and following six years on the faculty at Columbia University. Prior to serving as chancellor, Rich served as both the dean of Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and, as chief innovation and entrepreneurship officer, led the development and expansion of innovation and entrepreneurship campuswide.
