Cal Performances presents the Paris Opera Ballet in the North American Premiere of Red Carpet by Hofesh Shechter

Steeped in a ballet tradition that dates to the court of Louis XIV, the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet meet the visceral and emotive choreography of London-based choreographer Hofesh Shechter in the North American premiere of a new full-length work. Shechter creates vivid, urgent cinematic tableaus in his works, and his new creation — which will be danced to live music provided by a quartet of cello, double bass, drums, and a brass instrument — has been envisioned especially for the Paris Opera Ballet, whose tour includes only two US cities, with Berkeley as the only on the West Coast.

For blind and visually impaired audience members, live audio descriptions are available for the Saturday, October 4, 2 p.m. performance.

Tickets are available at calperformances.org, by phone at 510.642.9988, or in person at the Ticket Office at Zellerbach Hall, Tuesday–Friday, noon–5:30 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday, 1–5 p.m.
