The Magnes Collection Galleries

Discover one of the preeminent Jewish collections in the world, The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life. The museum connects people of all backgrounds with the vibrancy and diversity of Jewish life in the global diaspora and the American West through its holdings of art, objects, texts, and music. Stop by, enjoy some light refreshments, and view the museum's exhibitions, including "Cities and Wars: Roman Vishniac in Berlin and Jerusalem (1947-1967)." Bringing together previously unseen images of Berlin in 1947 after the Second World War and Jerusalem in 1967 after the Six-Day War, this new exhibition highlights the unique gaze of Roman Vishniac, the renowned photographer who considered both cities “home,” and carefully chronicles the devastating effects of war on urban life. The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life will be open for special museum hours on Sunday, October 8 from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
