What is Reunion and Parents Weekend?
Reunion and Parents Weekend at Homecoming is UC Berkeley’s largest annual gathering welcoming thousands of alumni, parents, and families to campus for three days of fun. Festivities include alumni parties, family events, the Bear Affair Tailgate BBQ, tours and open houses, the Homecoming football game, lectures, spirit events, and more.
How do I check in for Homecoming once I arrive on campus?
First, you’ll need to pick up your name tag/badge — which serves as your ticket for all events — and your printed program (you can preview a digital version of the program at the bottom of this page). All events take place rain or shine.
Friday: For most Friday events, check in at Homecoming Headquarters at the base of the Campanile, the clock tower right in the center of campus. Homecoming Headquarters is open 9 a.m.–8 p.m. on Friday. If you’re arriving just in time for the Class of 1953 65th Reunion, the Class of 1958 60th Reunion, the Class of 1963 55th Reunion, or the Class of 1968 50th Reunion, you can go directly to your event and check in at the door.
Saturday: Check in for all Saturday events — including the Bear Affair Tailgate BBQ — at Homecoming Headquarters at the base of the Campanile. Homecoming Headquarters is open 8 a.m. until kick-off at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Sunday: Homecoming Headquarters is closed on Sunday. Please be sure to pick up your name tag/badge by 4 p.m. on Saturday. There are still many things to see and do on Sunday, so be sure to wrap up your visit with one last Berkeley experience.
How do I plan my weekend?
You will receive a printed program when you arrive; you can get a sneak preview by downloading a digital version using the link at the bottom of this page. We also have a Homecoming app! Search “Cal Events” in your app store and then download the Homecoming 2018 guide.
How do I register?
Online registration is now closed! You can still register on-site at Homecoming Headquarters for the Class Pass ($35), which provides unlimited access to lectures, tours, open houses, and all of the Homecoming amenities. Individual events like the Chancellor’s Homecoming Reception and Bear Affair Tailgate BBQ range in price from $40 to $145. When you purchase admission to individual events the Class Pass is included at no extra charge. We are no longer able to process order changes or refunds. Please call 888.UNIV.CAL (888.864.8225) or send us a message if you have questions — we will do our best to help you.
How much does it cost?
Prices vary based on the events you choose to attend. The Class Pass costs $25 and provides unlimited access to lectures, tours, open houses, and all of the amenities offered at Homecoming Headquarters. Individual events like the Chancellor’s Homecoming Reception and Bear Affair Tailgate BBQ range in price from $25 to $100. When you purchase admission to individual events the Class Pass is included at no extra charge.
Does registration include tickets to the Homecoming football game?
No. Tickets are sold separately through Cal Athletics. Visit calbears.com/code and enter HOMECOMING for a discount. Parents: want to sit with other Cal families? If so, we recommend you purchase seats in the north end zone. Alumni wishing to cheer along with their fellow Bears should get seats in the south end zone.
Where should I stay?
Go to visitberkeley.com for info on where to stay, dine, shop, and more. Make your reservations early as hotels do fill up and rates increase.
How do I get to campus?
Since parking is limited, we recommend public transportation. Visit 511.org for local bus and train schedules and maps. Once you arrive on campus, Bear Transit shuttles are free thanks to our partners at Parking & Transportation; simply show your badge when you board. Volunteers will be available to escort you within campus grounds on golf carts for free. Stop by Homecoming Headquarters or any info booth to arrange for a pickup.
Where do I park?
We recommend public transportation to campus, but if you choose to drive, paid public parking is available throughout the city of Berkeley all weekend and on campus on Sunday. Charges and hours vary. See the campus map or city map for details.
What do I wear?
Your favorite blue and gold clothes! Be prepared for our Bay Area microclimates by dressing in layers.
Can I change or cancel my registration?
Call 888.UNIV.CAL (888.864.8225) to change or cancel your registration before online registration ends September 21. Cancelations will be charged a $15 fee per order.
