FAQ

What is Reunion and Parents Weekend?

Reunion and Parents Weekend at Homecoming is UC Berkeley’s largest annual gathering welcoming thousands of alumni, parents, and families to campus for three days of fun. Festivities include parties for milestone years and clubs and organizations, family events, the Chancellor’s Homecoming Reception, the Bear Affair Tailgate BBQ, tours and open houses, the Homecoming football game, lectures, spirit events, and more.

How do I register?

Register online by September 27 or by calling the Homecoming Hotline: 888.UNIV.CAL (888.864.8225). On-site registration is available on a first-come, first served basis, at increased cost.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary based on the events you choose to attend. The Class Pass costs $25 and provides unlimited access to lectures, tours, open houses, and all of the amenities offered at Homecoming Headquarters. Individual events like the Chancellor’s Homecoming Reception and Bear Affair Tailgate BBQ range in price from $25 to $125. When you purchase admission to individual events the Class Pass is included at no extra charge.

Does registration include tickets to the Homecoming football game?

No. Tickets are sold separately through Cal Athletics. Visit fevo.me/homecoming19 for discounted tickets starting at $35 each. Parents, please note that student season tickets only valid for seats in the student section and if you wish your student to sit with you, we recommend purchasing an additional ticket.

Class of 1969, interested in a premium seating experience for the 50th reunion Homecoming football game? Enjoy comfortable padded chairback seating with an all-inclusive hospitality viewing area with your reunion class. Contact Scott Adamek at 510.642.8131 or s.adamek@berkeley.edu by Friday, October 11 to learn more about premium seating group packages in the Stadium Club and Press Level Suite. There is only one suite available so it will sell out quickly. A portion of the cost of premium seating tickets is tax deductible and will be included in the Class of 1969 reunion gift campaign totals.

What if I’m on a budget?

The Chancellor’s Homecoming Reception offers the most value for the price, as it includes the Class Pass plus light refreshments at the Friday night celebration. Skip the rental car — and parking garages — and check out the public transit and free shuttle information under “How do I get to campus?” below. Many hotels in Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, and San Francisco offer discounts when you mention “UC Berkeley.” During Homecoming weekend, the Campanile and Botanical Garden waive entry fees and there are discounts available at the student store and elsewhere. A full list of this year’s special campus offers will be included in the printed program.

Where should I stay?

Go to visitberkeley.com for info on where to stay, dine, shop, and more. Make your reservations early as hotels do fill up and rates increase.

How do I get to campus?

Since parking is limited, we recommend public transportation. Visit 511.org for local bus and train schedules and maps. Ride-sharing services like Lyft and Uber are widely available in the Bay Area. Once you arrive on campus, Bear Transit shuttles are free thanks to our partners at Parking & Transportation; simply show your badge when you board. Volunteers will be available to escort you within campus grounds on golf carts for free. Stop by Homecoming Headquarters or any info booth to arrange for a pickup.

Where do I park?

We recommend public transportation to campus, but if you choose to drive, paid public parking is available throughout the city of Berkeley all weekend and on campus on Sunday. Charges and hours vary. See the campus map or city map for details.

What do I wear?

Your favorite blue and gold clothes! Be prepared for our Bay Area microclimates by dressing in layers.

Can I change or cancel my registration?

Call 888.UNIV.CAL (888.864.8225) to change or cancel your registration before online registration ends September 27. Cancelations will be charged a $15 fee per order. Please note that all events take place rain or shine. Refunds will not be offered in case of inclement weather.

How can my club or organization hold a reunion event during Homecoming?

We would be happy to work with you on your reunion. The Chancellor’s Homecoming Reception on Friday night and the Bear Affair Tailgate BBQ on Saturday are great opportunities for your group to come together. Contact us today using the form on this site so we can help make your reunion idea a reality.

Can I get the contact information for a classmate?

We are unable to give out personal info. Please email us your name and contact info and the name of the person you would like to reach. We will forward it to them on your behalf.
